Real Bodies, Real Sizes: How to Find Your Perfect Calm Curve Fit

period shapewear vision with Calm Curve founder Angela

I hear this question more than almost any other: "What size am I in Calm Curve?"

And I get why it feels loaded. Most of us have a complicated relationship with shapewear sizing already - the change room negotiations, the "should I size up or down," the worry that if it doesn't fit perfectly it'll roll, dig in, or just feel wrong. Add a period or perimenopause into the mix and suddenly sizing feels like one more thing you have to get exactly right.

So let's take the guesswork out of it. Here's exactly how to find your fit.

Forget your usual clothing size

This is the one thing I really want you to hear: your Calm Curve size is not your jeans size, your dress size, or even your usual shapewear size. Our pieces are built to sculpt and hold, which means the sizing logic is its own thing entirely.

Instead of reaching for whatever size you "normally" wear, measure. Every time. It takes two minutes and it's the single biggest thing that determines whether your Calm Curve feels like a second skin or something you're fighting with by 3pm.

How to measure yourself

Grab a soft tape measure and take two numbers:

Your waist - measure around the narrowest part of your torso, usually just above your belly button.

Your hips - measure around the fullest part, usually where your bottom is widest.

Match both numbers against the size chart on the product page for the specific style you're buying (Freya, Oshun, or Aphrodite) - not a general Calm Curve chart, because each style is cut slightly differently. I've also included all 3 charts onto a single page so you don't have to search individually through if you'd rather do that! https://youtube.com/shorts/ptfvkZDLr84

If you don't want to measure your body directly, lay a pair of shapewear you already own flat and measure that instead, then compare it to our flatlay measurements on each product page. Whatever gets you the most accurate number is the right method - there's no wrong way to do this. Scroll down to the bottom of this article for the size charts here as well!

The one exception to remember: Freya runs smaller

Here's a detail that trips people up constantly, so I'll say it plainly: Freya is cut smaller than Oshun and Aphrodite. If you're a Medium in Oshun or Aphrodite, you'll likely need a Large in Freya.

So if you're building out your full Goddess Range and want consistency across styles, don't assume one size fits all three. Check each chart individually.

Stuck between two sizes?

This comes down to personal preference, not a fixed rule. Ask yourself what you want more of: compression or comfort.

If you love a firmer, more sculpted hold, size down. If you want maximum all-day comfort with a little more breathing room, size up. Neither is "more correct" - it's about how you want it to feel on your body.

What "correctly fitted" should actually feel like

Snug, not restrictive. That's the standard to aim for.

You should feel held and supported, not squeezed or short of breath. If you notice digging, rolling, or genuine discomfort within the first hour of wearing it, that's your body telling you to size up - not a sign that shapewear "just isn't for you."

A few features are built specifically to prevent the classic shapewear complaint - rolling down through the day:

  • Freya and Aphrodite both have discreet flexible boning built into the waistband, so it stays smooth and supported without digging in.
  • Oshun uses a 3.5cm smooth elastic waistband designed to sit flat and stay put, no boning needed.

If you're planning to wear Calm Curve through a full workday, a workout, or anything active, that correct fit matters even more - it's what lets you move, sit, bend, and go about your day without thinking about it.

Sizes M–XXL, because real bodies aren't one shape

We made Calm Curve in sizes M through XXL from day one - not as an afterthought, but because curves come in every size and every one of them deserves a piece that was actually designed for it, not adapted from a smaller pattern.

Still not sure? We've got you

If you've measured, checked the chart, and you're still unsure, reach out to us directly. Every order also comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee, so if the fit isn't right once it arrives, we'll help you sort it - no stress, no awkwardness.

Because the whole point of Calm Curve is to feel confident and comfortable in your body, exactly as it is today. Getting your size right is where that starts.
